We believe residents deserve a real voice in the land-use decisions shaping our water, our land, and our community’s future.

PETITION TO THE HERNANDO COUNTY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION AND BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
NO HYPERSCALE DATA CENTERS IN HERNANDO COUNTY
We, the undersigned residents and supporters of Hernando County, respectfully urge the Hernando County Planning & Zoning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners to deny any applications to rezone large-acreage properties for hyperscale data center developments and other incompatible industrial uses.
These massive industrial facilities threaten the environmental integrity, rural character, and quality of life that define Florida's Nature Coast. Their impacts are immediate, long-lasting, and, in many cases, irreversible.
Our Major Concerns
- Loss of forests, wetlands, and natural habitat essential to wildlife and the health of our communities.
- Increased pressure on the aquifer and depletion of valuable groundwater resources.
- Extraordinary electrical demand requiring significant expansion of energy infrastructure at the expense of our community.
- Continuous industrial noise and low-frequency infrasound that may negatively affect nearby residents.
- Increased industrial traffic, road wear, and public safety concerns in residential and rural areas.
- Permanent conversion of agricultural and rural lands into heavy industrial complexes.
As residents and voters of Hernando County we call upon our elected officials to protect Hernando County's natural resources, water supply, rural heritage, and the health and well-being of current and future generations.
Protect Florida's Nature Coast.
