Send a Custom Email

A personal email is one of the most effective ways to reach your commissioner. Copy the template below, fill in the bracketed sections, and send it directly — feel free to edit it in your own words.

  3. Copy Commissioner’s email address (on right side) & paste into “To” on email.
  4. Edit email wording as you like.
  5. Enter your concern in the email Subject line.

I'm calling to ask Commissioner [Commissioner's Name] to make sure the updated Comprehensive Plan includes clear, enforceable limits on water use, energy demand, and noise for any future data center development in Hernando County. I'd also like to know how residents can stay involved as the Comprehensive Plan process moves forward. Thank you for your time."

Speak at a Meeting

Public comment at a Board of County Commissioners meeting carries real weight. Most comment periods have a strict time limit (often three minutes), so lead with your most important point first.

 

  • Introduce yourself: your name, your neighborhood, and how long you've lived in Hernando County.
  • State clearly that you're speaking about the Comprehensive Plan update and its impact on future data center development.
  • Ask what enforceable limits on water withdrawal, energy demand, and noise will be built into the plan.
  • Ask how the County will keep residents informed and involved as the Comprehensive Plan process continues.
  • Emphasize the importance of preserving Hernando County's rural character, waterways, and quality of life.
  • Keep it brief and specific — one clear ask is more effective than a long list.
